DNA Testing & DIET
Personalized medicine is at the forefront of science.
Hilit has completed her certificate in Translational Nutrigenomics (CTG Education), a Culinary Genomic Certification, as well as her training in Advanced Genomic Nutrition. She has a strong understanding for how our genetic variations affect the way in which we respond to certain nutrients and how they contribute to our risk for the development of certain chronic diseases as well as how certain foods can affect the way our genes express. In addition to this, she loves preparing different food combinations that will ensure we ‘switch on’ the expression of our healthy genes. Such a personalized approach allows for more precise and preventative healthcare.
Genetic testing provides us with actionable and accurate genetic information helping us with the management of weight loss, chronic diseases of lifestyle, inflammation, detoxification, bone health, decreasing the risk for the development of breast and ovarian cancers as well as improving and maintaining health and longevity.
The test results are not a diagnosis of any condition but rather form one important part of your health puzzle providing us with the information needed for you to make lifestyle changes that will have the greatest impact.
How DNA Test Work:
The DNA tests are ordered by Hilit through a chosen company which is decided upon in your session. It is a non-invasive test and involves a simple cheek swab.
It is recommended to first have an individual consultation whereby a full assessment can be performed and it can then be determined which test are required or appropriate for you.
Your DNA does not change, so it is important to identify specific risk areas as well as areas that you have historically struggled with so that we can tackle those with more precision and minimize future health risks.
What Information does one get?
The information recieved from a DNA test varies and can depend on the type of test used
It can provide information which assists with the development of a more personalized healthy eating plan, weight loss based on your genetic variations and how you react to carbohydrates, fats as well as different intensities of exercise.
It also allows us to understand whether your genetic profile may affect your susceptibility to chronic diseases such as osteoporosis, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes as well as poor mental well-being. Through this test we can optimize nutrition for good health, longevity and disease risk mitigation.
These tests also include genes which manage or are responsible for nutrient absorption in the body as well as how our body may be managing or breaking down our sex hormones. This can have an impact on conditions such as PCOS, endometriosis , menopause and more.
These genes are not diagnostic, they simply act as sign posts allerting us as to which area of our health may need more focus and what precise changes we can make in order to optimize gene behavour.
